Ecotourism and Queensland National Parks: An Investigation of Supported Walks in National Parks, Issues and Recommendations. Ecotourism is a growing industry in Australia and worldwide, placing pressure on national parks. This paper summarises evidence-based research of supported multi-day walks in national parks in Australia and overseas to inform government policy on ecotourism in national parks. This research was undertaken in response to a proposal to develop private infrastructure (including commercial ecolodges) and associated support within Main Range National Park for a multi-day walk. NPAQ Conservation Principal Laura Hahn presented the above NPAQ paper at an ecotourism conference in 2018.

Five Million Hectares: A Conservation Memoir 1972-2008 by Paul S. Sattler (reprinted with amendments 2017). Paul Sattler OAM has a lifetime of professional experience in nature conservation; he was the principal architect in doubling Queensland’s national park estate in the 1990s and, having worked closely with National Parks Association of Queensland over the years, he gave the 13th Romeo Lahey Lecture in 2000. His memoirs reference NPAQ several times.
