This proposed wildlife corridor from the Alps to Atherton looks like a great plan for Australia. I applaud this idea!
NSW and Victoria are all over this one, but where is Queensland? Look how much effort those two states have made already. Queensland is not only lacking in overall protected areas but in linking those areas with a planned, forward-thinking approach to wildlife conservation.
It's about time the government of the "smart state" stepped up to the plate and realised climate change is on its way, and we should be working with others to allow the conservation of species for the future generations.

Apologies for the delay in responding. The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has informed NPAQ that a committee has been formed to work on land acquisition for this corridor. QPWS is also looking to work with private land owners to ensure that adequate areas are set aside in order for this proposal to come to fruition.

NPAQ agrees with your comments regarding the need for more Protected Estate across Queensland. We meet regularly with the Queensland Government to inform them of our desire to see the declaration of more Protected Area Estate in Queensland.

We hope to see an increase in the allocation of funds for such acquisition in the next Queensland budget.
