NPAQ - National Parks Association of Queensland
Nature Based Tourism in/adjacent to National Parks PDF Print

NPAQ , in conjunction with other Conservation representatives, recently attended a Round Table meeting with the EPA and Tourism representatives regarding nature based tourism within or adjacent to National Parks.

The Round Table aimed to establish a clear viewpoint and policy guidelines for Nature Based Tourism within National Parks and to ensure that all viewpoints were heard and acknowledged.

NPAQ and the represented Conservation groups would like to see infrastructure within National Parks occur for the benefit of the environment and if accommodation facilities are to be built, our preference is for such facilities to be provided adjacent to the Protected Estate, as a gateway facility. Such buildings/infrastructure are to be built in sympathy to the surrounding environment.

At this stage a proposal is being put together to be sent to Premier Beattie and Cabinet for consideration. Stay tuned for updates.
