NPAQ recently met with the EPA Director General and Hon. Minister McNamara

The meeting with Terry Wall, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) took place on Wednesday November 21 and discussion around the restructure of the EPA (due for completion by July 2008) took place.

The restructure is the result of a strategic review that was undertaken throughout this year and it has many promising components to it. NPAQ hopes that the outcomes are favourable and a more streamlined system of operation will be implemented.

Meeting with Minister McNamara, November 22, 2007:

Our first meeting with the Hon. Andrew McNamara, Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation was also quite beneficial. We discussed our ongoing desire to see a greater amount of Queensland declared as national park/protected area estate and the commitment made by the Queensland Government to ensure that at least 5% of the State is gazetted as part of the National Reserve System.

Minister McNamara informed us that he intends to work with NPAQ and undertake consultation as necessary to ensure that our views are heard. NPAQ looks forward to working with Minister McNamara in his role as the Minister for this new portfolio.
