NPAQ - National Parks Association of Queensland
Recent Track and Maintenance work: Sundown National Park PDF Print

During the week 9-12th October, seven NPAQ members along with the Sundown QPWS Ranger valiantly marked, hacked, dug, raked, shifted logs and stones, marked edges and built stone steps for the first half of the new track, up hill and down dale for approximately 1.5 – 2 Km.

For those who are familiar with the area, this new section is now open through from the bridge past the information kiosk, back to a cross track from the restricted group campsite. One then turns left back to the campsite.

The weather was remarkably kind but the ticks were not! The wildlife was also interesting.

This work was the next step in the construction of the track, which has been a work in progress for several years. The next stage of the work to this section will occur next year so check the Events Calendar for further information.

Photos in the Picture Gallery show work in progress and the finished track.
