SOCIAL WALK – HISTORIC HAMILTON, 2 May
Twenty-one members met at Newstead Park and were joined by an American student studying information flows in community organisations. The group walked along Kingsford Smith Drive and Toorak Road noting places of heritage interest.

Palma Rosa, a historic three-storey mansion was the morning tea venue. Ever upward, the group followed a winding route to the top of Hamilton Hill where the 1867 stone Toorak House stands. All enjoyed the magnificent views of the Brisbane River and the city and marvelled at the many desirable residences in the area. Several are listed on Heritage registers and the leader gave the history of these places.

More places of interest were viewed on the descent circuit to the River which was followed back to Newstead Park. Some members lunched in the park while others patronised the Newstead Wharf eateries.  The outing ended in time to beat the afternoon traffic peak. The weather was kind, the company great, and the experience very worthwhile
