There are a range of walks catering both for those seeking energetic and challenging experiences, as well as offering more leisurely paced walks for individuals wishing to take their time in observing the flora and fauna. A visit to our events events calendar will give an overview of the types of activities. The duration of these “walks” can range from half-day strolls, day walks and week-end camps, to extended activities of up to 4 weeks An experienced leader, who has undertaken a training program for leaders, heads each walk. The leader training involves first aid, navigation and strategies for dealing with emergency situations. An activities manual ensures a consistent standard. Many of our members are knowledgeable about specific areas and topics such as bird or plant identification and photography, ensuring that walkers gain much from sharing their knowledge with each other. Walks are graded as to fitness standard required, terrain to be traversed and type. Before any walk commences, the leader will advise of the proposed route, fitness requirements and any safety precautions. Sometimes restrictions as to fitness and number are required for the safety and enjoyment of all.
