NPAQ is a volunteer organisation with more than 6,500 of voluntary hours per year dedicated to the operation of the office and the various outings that are held. Volunteers (most of whom are members), provide their time to undertake a range of tasks. By volunteering your time, you can help NPAQ achieve its goals and also gain skills that can assist you in the workplace. Many employers look for volunteer work that potential employees have undertaken and if you have a commitment to the environment, what better way to show it than by undertaking revegetation work? Not only do you gain skills but also the satisfaction of having made a difference and knowing that you have contributed to a worthy cause. There are many other ways to gain skills if revegetation work does not appeal to you and these are as follows:
Without the efforts of our dedicated members who volunteer to assist with the items listed, these tasks would not get done. The list is endless and our members’ efforts have been rewarded through the Queensland Heritage Awards (previously known as the John Herbert Memorial Awards). The Awards acknowledge best practice conservation work and the dedication of all sectors of the community to the heritage of Queensland. NPAQ received the award for the tireless efforts of our members who take part in the Revegetation work at Boombana and Jolly's lookout, a project that has been running for more than fifteen years. We are always looking for volunteers to assist with various tasks. Please contact the NPAQ office today and find out how you can help.
